Identity Block was established in 2010 as a division of KLF Media Inc., a Canadian technology company operating since 2005. From 2010 to 2012, Identity Block's teams of data security experts set out to create a guaranteed and affordable solution to RFID Identity Theft (Skimming). RFID chips are currently standard on government issued identification such as passports and driver's licenses for G20 member countries. RFID's transactional protocol NFC is the new standard for Point of Sale (POS) transactions below $100. In early 2013, Identity Block was spun out from KLF media Inc. and Strenua Solutions Inc. was founded.
Following a thorough market survey of existing solutions (specialized wallets, varied protective materials and formats), Identity Block determined that the current market offering was limited, expensive difficult to use and required a change in user habits. Furthermore, poor quality products with no certification of functionality or origin indicated a need for serious Identity Theft prevention products. Based on these findings, Identity Block developed the world's first and only line of RFID/NFC shielding end-user products for use with any card format to receive certifications fromboth US Government & European labs. Following the success of the card format, Identity Block introduced RFID passport protection to the greater public. In 2013, Identity Block and its licensee Bugatti created the world's first line of lifestyle, business and travel products featuring Identity Block's military grade protection.
